Want to be part of a winning team, have fun, make friends and learn to play a new sport? Come and join our Fresh Meat program and start playing Roller Derby!
We hold beginner skating sessions every Sunday at our training venue:
Sir Herbert Leon Academy
Come along and you can meet other new people, find out more about Milton Keynes Roller Derby and try it out for yourself!
What is Roller derby?
Roller Derby is an exciting full-contact, gender-inclusive sport played on quad roller skates by people of all ages, shapes and sizes. You can find a quick explanation here.
It is superb exercise, competitive, fun and a great way to meet new people. Come and have a go – it will change your life!
You must be over 18 but all skill levels are welcome – even if you’ve never strapped on a pair of skates – and we can even lend you kit to get you started (subject to availability)! Our Fresh Meat program is open to anyone wanting to get involved in Roller Derby. As well as skaters, we’re always looking to recruit referees and non-skating officials!
- Something to drink (skating is thirsty work!)
- Comfortable clothes – think what you might wear to the gym.
We can lend you
- Quad rollerskates
- Knee pads
- Elbow pads
- Wrist guards
The first session is free!
If you decide to continue training with us (and we hope you will!), sessions cost £5 a night, with an additional £2 for skate and kit hire.
You can use the contact us box below to ask for more information, or to let us know you’d like to come along to one of our sessions. If you’d like to come along to join us, please get in contact by the Friday before the session you’d like to join us so that we can make sure we have all the correct kit and coaches available to welcome you. Please let us know what size skates or other kit you need to borrow, and any previous skating experience you have (none is totally fine!) We look forward to meeting you!
